Hi and welcome :-)

Here is one link about a clutch problem : LINK.

I think the most RX4 don't have problems or don't have enough km on
the clock. Our RX4 with now 56.xxx km has his first clutch without any
problems.

only onroad or also offroad? I think the offroad driving wears out the clutch
a bit more.

You are the first with more than 100.000 km at this forum of my state of
knowledge. oh ... I found anotherone, kiwi991. At the end of 2004
he had 105.000 km on the clock without any problem.

clutch

Hi, surfingballons24

My RX4 mileages nearly 140000km, and I changed the clutch in around 90000km but pretty it is still in very good condition so it waste me about $300EU. There are few examples of clutch out of function in around 50000km in Taiwan, mainly they drive into sand/beach area so my suggestion don't try the way there. The most serious problem of RX4 should be gear box of 5th gear which I lost power twice and found it is a wrong design of the way to fix 5th gear. They used a normal clockwise bolt to fix at end of 5th gear shift and this bolt will lose out from shaft due to same drive direction of gear then when it lose some distance then you also loss the power function of 5th gear (this is my 1st experience) and if you are really bad luck then the gear may even totally out of drive shift then you got a big big problem which the gear box totally out of function (stuck or wear out another gear in box) since you don't know this 5th gear will drop into any position in the box. There are few reference of this serious problem in Taiwan but the dealer Renault seems not really understand since they always ask to replace whole gear box when you got problem of it. I am highly suggest all RX4 driver double check your 5th gear when you change your gear lub. in around mileage 80000km or after.

Joe.
