About your problem with the 5th gear i'm sorry to hear that, but maybe
someone here can say anything about it.
I'll keep my fingers crossed that you get help for your gearbox.
Alex
Many thanks of your concern, and finally my 5th gear fixed. The garage found one bolt loose on 5th gear therefore it become somehow movement so it cause the problem jump out. I think this is big problem of workmanship. It was really happen one gearbox of RX4 totally destory due to one gear broken during high speed running. Fortunately it happen within 2 years warrenty.
We do have a lot discussion about this gearbox specially about 1st and second gear. I don't know are there anyone have similar idea.
Thanks for the status posting from you.
Unfortunately i get no answer about the support directly from Europe.
But i'm waiting for the answer. Maybe i can tell you something positiv.
Hopefully!!!
that means, that Renault only sells via the local dealer.
Because there are country specific differents and the compatibility is
not guaranteed.
Thats the risk you have to accept, if you order something directly
here in Germany. I'm sorry that i can't say something positiv.
Can you tell me more about the problems you have with 1st and 2nd gear.
My wife complains that it is difficult to shift into those gears.
Ilan
Hi Ilan,
my problem is 5th gear will jump out but now fix. And I have not heard any problem of 1st/2nd gear in taiwan. But we do have a lot complain that 1sr/2nd gear are very poor power to drive to high slop or sand/beach area. But this is only 2 liter engine so ....
anyway, I can post your problem to see anyone have similar question here in taiwan
Your right, need to deflate tyre to drive over sand area and we did most 15 psi. Anyway, I won't try again it seem not so smart to drive such place by RX4.
Just heard one Taiwanese driver complain to his garage that his gear box become very hard and tough since he replaced the gear oil. His new oil is not ELF so it may one small problem and this just for your information.
joe,
I had some problems with that elf oil and trashed it m8.....i have been putting castrol rs..10w60 synthetic! everywhere, in the rear end, tranny, and lube for grease also, ive been using no for 2 years!!! good stuff.....a bit expensive but good!
when I had elf lubes in , i noticed a leak in the rear end gear box , and changed the seal......it was the elf stuff that was to thin! now ive been using SAFX-J 75-120 gear lube from castrol........all my darn problems are gone......
Did you ever seen leaks on the sump gasket?
Is not major on mine is just a bit wet, no drops. I am replacing the gasket soon under warranty.
Is the Elf stuff again???
COSTI,
What do you mean sump gasket.......do you mean the water pump gasket??
or the side cover of the tranny......??
if you mean the side cover , Yes....its a little moist on me too.....
Im waiting when the time comes to replace the clutch , ill do all that together........because its a pain in the ass to pull that tranny out and do the work......
and yes, by all means CASTROL!!!!!!
never again that elf shit...........(sorry about the french)
